malaysian food in hoboken – satay malaysian cuisine

June 27, 2009

Last night we went to Satay Malaysian Cuisine -one of Hoboken’s most, if not the most, underrated restaurants. Frequented by people of all races and backgrounds, the yuppie crowd stays away from this joint –certainly a sign of a winner (and something that’s fine by me). BYOB doesn’t hurt, either.

Anyway, being a multicultural country, Malay food has many different influences –Chinese, Indian, Thai, etc. –which serve to create a somewhat familiar food landscape, though fairly different than anything you’ve ever had. Not to bore you with details, but Malay food is pungent, flavorful, complex, spicy, and well balanced (as all Asian food is), and Satay does an awesome job at it. But don’t just take my word. Eat up.

My, what a tasty Chow Keuh Teow
